NextGen Healthcare, a leading provider of innovative, cloud-based healthcare technology solutions, today announced the general availability of Mirth Connect® 4.8, the most powerful version yet of the world’s leading healthcare integration engine.
Mirth Connect powers interoperability in more than 40 countries, enabling secure, real-time data-sharing that optimizes care coordination, drives efficiency, and boosts clinical outcomes.
“Healthcare organizations need more than an integration engine. They need an accountable partner to deliver high performance and high trust solutions,” said Srinivas (Sri) Velamoor, president and chief executive officer, NextGen Healthcare. “Mirth Connect 4.8 reflects our continued momentum and ongoing commitment to not just innovate this market-leading platform with a new AI-enhanced user and support experience and coordinated security updates, but also deliver dedicated support for achieving business outcomes.”
Mirth Connect 4.8 offers new AI-embedded capabilities, including an expansion of Mirth Assist, NextGen Healthcare’s AI-powered interoperability assistant. Mirth Assist helps integration engineers work more efficiently by providing context-aware guidance and support within existing interoperability workflows. Mirth Assist now supports more of the integration lifecycle, from initial development through production monitoring and support.
Other notable features include:
- Coordinated security updates: Updates to Jetty, Netty, Bouncy Castle, and other core libraries, with NextGen-developed extensions pre-tested and integrated
- Data encryption: Enhanced ability to protect sensitive information in exported configurations and at rest in the database
- OAuth 2.0 support: Securely connect to OAuth-protected HTTP and FHIR endpoints
- Enhanced script editor: Improved JavaScript validation, autocompletion, and code folding provide a more efficient development experience
- H2 Database: An updated default database replaces Apache Derby
- UX/UI improvements: Toggle light and dark mode themes across Mirth Connect and the Command Center
Mirth Connect 4.8 offers various enhancements to the Command Center, an intuitive “control panel” for viewing and managing servers and channels. Within the Command Center, users can access metrics for servers and channels in a single dashboard, monitor key performance thresholds, and receive proactive notifications when thresholds are reached or exceeded. U.S. users can also offload historical data from their own environments into secure, NextGen-managed cloud storage, then retrieve and reprocess it on-demand to support compliance, security, and disaster recovery needs.
Attendees at NextGen Healthcare’s annual User Group Meeting (UGM 26) November 8-11 in San Diego and HLTH 2026 November 15-18 in Las Vegas are invited to see Mirth Connect 4.8 in action. For a self-guided demonstration, visit nextgen.com.
